The Nippon Foundation (TNF) is a world-wide non-profit, independent, grant-making organization which was founded in 1962 as a shipbuilding industry. It sponsors areas like social welfare and volunteer support, maritime research and development, and overseas cooperative assistance. It works alognside other non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations and international organizations. Main objectives of TNF are to promote social innovation and social welfare, to support maritime research, development and overseas cooperative assistance voluntarily, to give all of humanity the chance to participate in creating our future and to promote philanthropic activities. Leading projects of TNF are “ROAD Project” – to assist in rebuilding Tohoku from earthquakes, “Paralympic support” project – to promote Paralympic movement, agricultural assistance in Africa and eliminating and overcoming leprosy.
